Pharaoh Ants Pest Control
Sign of presence
Ants in a row
The workers of this species move in a highly organized manner, often in single file, to collect food. This characteristic behavior makes them easy to spot on walls, floors or around windows. Following their routes can lead you directly to their nests or access points.
Intrusion into the food supply
Omnivorous, pharaoh ants are particularly attracted to sweet, high-protein foods. They often infiltrate poorly sealed packages, such as cereals, flours or sweets. Check your food supplies frequently for signs of their presence.
Small mounds of earth
Unlike other species, pharaoh ants prefer to build their nests indoors, but they do leave signs of activity outdoors. If you spot small mounds of earth near foundations, paving stones or interblocks, this may indicate the entrance to their colony. These often discreet signs indicate an infestation that requires prompt attention.
Black spots on surfaces
Pharaoh ants leave droppings in the form of small black spots or halos on walls, ceilings or floors. These traces, though minute, are a telltale sign of their active presence in your space.
Prevention
Controlling humidity
Pharaoh ants are attracted to damp environments and decaying materials. Repair water infiltration promptly, ventilate sensitive areas such as bathrooms and basements, and avoid storing wood near your home.
Exterior cleaning
Choose a well-maintained site with a dense lawn, which limits potential hiding places for ants. Avoid cracks in paving stones or interblocks, and repair them as soon as they appear to prevent the installation of nests.
Sealing access points
Fill all cracks, gaps and openings around doors, windows and foundations. These access points are ideal entry points for pharaoh ants, which can easily sneak in to establish their colony.
Food protection
Store all food in airtight containers to prevent access by ants. Clean kitchen surfaces frequently and remove any crumbs or residues that might attract them.
