Bumblebee

Large, hairy insect, 8 to 25 mm long (depending on caste). Color varies according to species: generally black with yellow and sometimes orange stripes. Different from honey bees in size and downy appearance.

It nests in the ground (former rodent burrows), under leaf piles, in attics and wall cavities. Colonies are small (50 to 400 individuals) and annual.
