How to identify it

The skunk can be recognized by its glossy black coat with two white stripes from muzzle to tail. Stocky body, small head, bushy tail. Adult weight: 2 to 4 kg. Found throughout Quebec, from the south to the sub-Arctic. Not to be confused with the polecat, absent from North America.

Where to find it

They lodge under galleries, sheds, sheds, verandas and crawl spaces. Digs burrows or occupies those abandoned by other animals. Active as long as temperatures remain above -10°C.
